A Call to Action
Originally founded as a mining community, the City has always been reliant on the area’s natural resources. Today, the City serves as the gateway to Michigan’s beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula and depends on tourism as the primary industry. If we do not approach community planning through a resiliency and sustainability lens, we risk compromising our local economy in addition to compromising the integrity of one of the most beautiful and unique landscapes in the world.
